System Design Engineer - Integration and

The System Design Engineer (SDE) plays an important role in the development of new transmission electron microscopes or their modules. As the essential member of the project team contributes significantly to defining system requirements, creating test plans, and most importantly conducting tests and processing results. Additionally, this position involves presenting findings to the project team and actively collaborating with software and hardware engineers to address challenges.
SDE works closely with Operations from the early stage of each development to train both manufacturing and service colleagues and other stakeholders.
**What will be your primary responsibilities?**:
- Working in compliance with legislation and Integrated Management Systems
- Participate in several New Product Development projects and contribute to the integration of complex new hardware modules and software features on existing prototype systems
- Define and perform test plans for new complex hardware/software, and document results
- Solve integration issues, provide designers with feedback, and suggest improvements to existing prototypes
- Maintaining R&D transmission electron microscopes in the best possible working condition to facilitate development work, customer demos etc.
- Take ownership for the safety (X-ray, electronics, mechanical) around the designated prototype setups
- Communicate frequently with project leaders on test progress, and technical issues and suggest alternative solutions, also frequently communicate with project members from other departments to provide them with necessary inputs
- Provide recommendations during the specification definition and design phase of new products
- Transfers knowledge to Operations Engineering, Service, and Manufacturing partners
- Supports factory and field service engineers with first builds, installs, and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules to ensure proper working order (this may require travel to various customer locations worldwide)
**What do you need to be successful in the role? (must have)**:
- At least 1 year of practical experience with related work on Transmission Electron Microscopes
- High school diploma in electrical engineering (or higher education)
- Ability to work independently with minimum support
- Strong communicative and multicultural interaction skills and proficiency in English
