Software Asset Management (Sam) Lead
This position operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities through the efficient management of software products. We collaborate internationally to deliver the services and solutions that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines, and Animal Health products.
**Position Description: Associate Director, Software Asset Management (SAM)**
The Associate Director, Software Asset Management, leads the center-led SAM service to ensure compliant, cost-effective, and efficient utilization of software across the company. They manage a hybrid team of employees and outsourced SAM service providers, reporting to the Director, Business Consulting in the Business Management & Enablement team.
Key responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations and technical aspects of the SAM service, acting as a liaison between internal stakeholders and the service team, and addressing any issues that arise. This role is crucial in aligning and developing SAM capabilities within the company. The SAM Lead also supports the companys IT transformation by utilizing third-party software effectively, particularly in relation to cloud migration, data and analytics, and agile product team operating mode.
Furthermore, the role serves as an advisor on cross-functional teams, advocating for the expanded utilization of SAM services and data to drive innovation and automation within IT. Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex change management issues are required for success in this position.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Provide thought leadership, high-level, and detailed planning around all competencies that will be needed to complement, and/or extend the SAM Service
- Oversee and manage all operational and technical aspects of the SAM Service either directly or through the hybrid team, including activities such as:
- Operational: software license compliance, software audit preparation, entitlement management, software asset inventory, and optimization.
**Technical**:
- Overall ITAM Tool administration including maintenance and reporting to include inventory, ad hoc audits, and periodic audits to ensure compliance
- Manages all the systems, tools and processes that are required to deliver software license management services
- Act as a liaison with other teams providing data and insights
- Supports the creation and maintenance of technical documentation for the ITAM tool (e.g., tool architecture, user guides)
- Responsible for generating ad hoc reports, queries from ITAM Tool
- Ensures that inventories are kept up to date
- Tracks and monitors the creation, maintenance, and decommissioning of Technology assets to ensure ITAM tool reports are complete and accurate
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as IT, procurement, and finance teams, to align SAM activities with organizational goals and objectives
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency enhancements within the SAM Service. Drive and implement changes to mature and optimize SAM practices, tools, and methodologies with a focus creating self-service access to data and analytics
- Develop strong external and internal network to enable innovation, automation, stay current with industry trends, and establish effective vendor partnerships
- Develop and supports the practices of product management and agile delivery, building the mindset of accountability, customer centricity and empower teams to continuously improve the impact and quality of the automation products and services we deliver
- Advance the IT Transformation related to the Product Model and new ways of working, including developing ways to push software financial headwinds and savings opportunities systematically to Product Owners for awareness and action
- Builds a strategic IT capability through strategic staffing, and organizational development, as well as employee recruitment, retention and people development
- Operational Supplier management of Managed Service outsourced partner to track against deliverables, OKRs and SLAs
- Hybrid People Management (~2 employees and over 20+ outsourced resources)
- Agile Demand Management to ruthlessly and continuously prioritize ad hoc support requests from stakeholder areas
- Invoice Management related to the outsourced component of the SAM Managed Service
