We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Analytics team in Packeta Group. In this role you will be responsible for the maintenance, setup, and optimization of our data platforms and pipelines. You will work in cross functional teams that include Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Analysts, and IT professionals to help drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Maintenance and Setup

• Oversee the setup, maintenance, and optimization of data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, and Databricks.
• Ensure the performance and scalability of these platforms through best practices in architecture and infrastructure management.
• Drive the migration of a traditional SQL Server DWH to a modern Fabric lakehouse infrastructure while maintaining the reliability of our BI service.

Data Integration and ETL Processes

• Build and manage data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, integrating various data sources (structured and unstructured) across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Build and expand a comprehensive company-wide data model.
• Propose efficient solutions for supporting various data analytics needs – daily as well as realtime dashboards, predefined as well as ad-hoc reporting.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all data platforms.

Data platform Management

• Manage and optimize Azure SQL Managed Instances, including performance tuning and query optimization.
• Manage data lake structures in Microsoft Fabric One Lake.
• Implement robust security across all data platforms.

Collaboration and Support

• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide solutions.
• Support the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data platform issues.

Automation and Innovation

• Develop automated processes for data collection, transformation, and loading.
• Propose automated solutions to provide data transparency, monitoring and lineage.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data engineering and cloud technologies.
• Continuously seek ways to innovate and improve the data infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Expertise in data integration and ETL tools and processes.
• Familiarity with PySpark and SparkSQL for processing and transforming large datasets.
• Skilled in building tabular models and developing interactive reports using Power BI
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Czech and English languages

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric platform.
• Experience with SQL Server administration including performance tuning and query optimization.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Scala.
