The VMware Service Provider and Edge Business Unit (SEBU) develops platforms and solutions for Telco’s wide area network environments from core to edge. We leverage core VMware products wherever possible, and work through our Telco and field sales teams and strategic partners to reach customers world-wide. Through our Telco Cloud Platform, we help VMware and our customers stay at the forefront of innovation in telecommunications networks.
**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**
The Telco Partner Architect is responsible for overseeing joint technical workstreams with VMware’s telco partner ecosystem (NEPs/Telco Network Function ISVs) to deliver partner validated/tested solutions on VMware’s Telco Cloud Platform. The position requires this individual to drive and manage technical initiatives representing VMware Service Provider and Edge business unit (SEBU), to accelerate the deployment of VMware’s solutions into the Carrier Service Provider market through deep technical partner relationships. This individual will work closely with VMware SEBU resources, our field account teams, and cross functionally across the broader VMware BUs. The qualified individual will be required to build and foster strong working relationships across product management & engineering teams to drive jointly tested, validated and integrated solutions between VMware’s offerings and our ecosystem of Partners.
**The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?**
- Responsible for driving technical initiatives to enable partners on VMware Telco Cloud platforms.
- Initial troubleshooting of technical issues encountered by Partner when testing and validating partners software in conjunction with VMware Telco Cloud Platform.
- Responsible for projects, including architecture definition, support the partner with the deployment of telco cloud products and the onboarding and validation of the partner network functions.
- Assist and lead partners to install and configure VMware’s Telco Cloud offerings.
- Develop relationships with partner technical stakeholders, and manage partner weekly calls to ensure projects are on track, bring to resolution any blocking issues.
- Work with internal VMware cross-functional teams (marketing, product management, etc) and partner stakeholders to drive the development of solution collateral and enablement.
- Interface to the VMware field team and the partner (what solution is needed from which partner, navigate and influence with partner field team to benefit VMware field teams).
**Required Skills**:
- 10+ years of experience designing / implementing highly scalable cloud and telco technology solutions.
- Strong, comprehensive familiarity with virtualization and VMware product portfolio. In particular, deep, hands on experience (Install, Configure and Manage) with VMware Telco Cloud platform, as well as core VMware product suite, including vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and TKG.
- Experience with telco solutions including 5G core, 5G RAN, IMS etc is preferred.
- Deep understanding of cloud native technologies. Previous experience with VMware CaaS technologies such as TKG is preferred.
- Strong understanding of networkingin cloud and containerized environments.
- Ability to learn new technologies related to telco ecosystem and VMware’s evolving portfolio
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science.
**Preferred Skills**
- Negotiation and influencing without alienating partnership and relationships.
- Strong knowledge of strategic alliances, building technology partnerships, developing and executing GTM plans with partners.
