People in Need (PIN) is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Central and Eastern Europe region working in the field of humanitarian and development aid, promotion of human rights and social inclusion. Currently, over 2400 employees work for the Humanitarian and Development Section of People in Need in 23 countries on 3 continents.
**Position Summary**:
Media officer for CAD is mostly responsible for communication activities in the Czech Republic, communication and maintaining good and lasting relationships with media and journalists, promote PIN RDD topics in mainstem media, supports public events and campaigns and communication activities of CAD awareness rising projects. The Media officer is part of Communication and Advocacy team and closely cooperates with its members (media officers, advocacy officer, financial officer).
**Reporting Relations & Interdependencies with Other Functions**:
The Media officer reports to the Head of CAD her/his line manager. She/he closely cooperates with other members of CAD and other departments such as Knowledge and Learning (K&L) department, Environmental unit. Further, she/he closely cooperates with other PIN departments such as Media department, One World, One World in Schools, Varianty, and others such as Legal, IT, Finance etc.
**What will be your responsibility?**:
- Communication with journalists in the CR - journalists trips, disseminating media content
- Communication with and support of country offices with promotion of their work in CR (PIN PR of projects, success, best practices - press releases, annual report)
- Creating media content (directly writing articles to Czech media - RDD web, social networks, and annual reports, campaigns,
- Multimedia campaigns
- Management of PIN website
- making sure that RDD information is updated
- Collecting materials from Country Programmes for media outcomes
- Participation in PIN media meeting and coordination with other PIN media officers
- Coordination with external suppliers (e.g. surveys, PR agencies);
- Seeking and establishing strategic partnerships with external partners, e.g. private sector, institutions;
**Other responsibilities**:
**Representation & External Relations**
- Is formally as well as informally networking and developing partnerships with all relevant stakeholders (government, media, universities, private sector, NGO sector) in the Czech Republic;
- Formally represents PIN at relevant meetings, events and seminars.
**Finance Management**
- In cooperation with FDO, reviews proposal budgets for appropriateness, relevance and coverage as well as secures co-funding for projects;
- In coordination with FDO prepares budgets for new proposals;
- In cooperation with FDO, prepares financial reports and narrative reports.
**We are looking for someone who has**:
- High communication skills (in words and in writing)
- Knowledge of the Czech Media Environment
- Experience with communication to the media
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with media/journalists
- Ability to write professional press releases and proactively offer PIN activities/work to the media for the purpose of articles, interviews, podcasts etc.
- Ability to quickly find out information across the organization and create understandable content
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Ability to handle crisis communication
- Knowledge of relief and development issues, international politics is an advantage
- Ability to film and take photos is an advantage
