Lead Software Engineer

Rapid7 is seeking an innovative, self-motivated Lead Software Engineer to join our SOAR product team. You will bring your passion for software engineering and technical leadership and use this to help our customers close the security achievement gap. As one of our more senior members of the team, you will provide guidance and support helping other Engineers to broaden their skills and challenge old ways of thinking.

**About the Role**
As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be part of the Security Automation Orchestration and Response team, working on our InsightConnect product. Youll have the opportunity to not only develop end-to-end security solutions to meet customer needs, but also to work with those customers in real time. Our customers use diverse sets of tools and services to operate their SOCs, giving you the opportunity to learn them all as we help our customers close the security achievement gap. You’ll provide technical guidance within the team and play a valuable role leveling up junior engineers through mentoring and coaching. You also support the product management team on defining the roadmap to ensure we build what’s really important to customers. You’ll also have the chance to engage with our customers on a regular basis, and get feedback on what problems they’re facing day to day as they continue to adopt automaton and cloud technologies.
You’ll join the team in Belfast to support continued expansion of automation across the Rapid7 product suite, solving complex problems so our customers can focus on remediation of the risks they face.
Outside of your team, you’ll contribute to the wider InsightConnect architecture and engineering direction, and also to the broader Rapid7 engineering community.
In this role, you will:
- Lead in all aspects of our engineering as we grow the InsightConnect platform throughout the business, embedding security automation across our product suite.
- Work with stakeholders, including Product Management and UX to shape features during design and planning, where you will provide technical direction for our Platform Automation space
- Ask questions! Getting involved in code and design reviews, helping to improve what we’re building. We love to collaborate
- Directly mentor and coach a small number of junior engineers and help grow their skills, identify growth areas, set expectations and provide feedback.
- Help shape our architecture. We’re continuing to evolve our SaaS platform, and you’ll be involved in initiatives as we scale it, making sure it’s effective in its ability to process millions of events a day.
- Be a mentor and a leader. Share your experience across the team to help others learn, and inspire your peers to do their best. You’ll also expect the same back from your team

The skills you’ll bring include:
- You - a self-motivated, collaborative, high-energy, experienced engineer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong, creative problem solving ability.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering complex solutions to customers.
- Attitude to thrive in a high-growth, evolving environment
- Deep understanding of one or more languages, primarily Golang
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, GCP and Azure, and it’ll be a bonus if you have experience with cloud security
- A good understanding of container orchestration platforms including K8s.
