As a Barclays Java Developer you will join the well-established equity derivatives team in Prague consisting of more than 60 experienced professionals (with colleagues spread across London, New York, Pune, Hong Kong, Singapore). We are split into several platform teams covering different functions and products. You will have an opportunity to use your core Java skills and innovation mindset and you will be well versed in the overall development lifecycle and relevant technologies and tools.

**What will you be doing?**
- Developing and timely delivering of new features and functionalities as well as enhancements to the core systems
- Participating on the architecture and design decisions
- Focusing on quality of code
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the processes and the system
- Participating on production support
- Taking ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do
- Handling complex problems and translating them into solutions respecting OOP fundamentals
**What we’re looking for**:
- Relevant experience in Java software development with good core Java skills (Java 8, including but not limited to Generics, Collections, Multithreading, I/O, Streams and JDBC)
- Knowledge of enterprise design patterns
- Proficiency in concepts and technologies regarding Java development -Spring, Maven, Hibernate, Protocol buffers, RESTful APIs, continuous integration, automated testing, etc
- Team player familiar with Agile development concepts and excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
**Skills that will help you in the role**:
- Knowledge of relational databases (ideally Oracle DB)
- Familiarity with messaging platforms such as MQ, Solace or Kafka
- Familiarity with Linux shell and Python scripting
- Knowledge of web front-end development using HTML5 and Angular 6+ or similar
**Where will you be working?**
Our Prague office is based in the financial centre of Prague. We are part of the Operations and Technology Division, and as such, we try our best to stay at the top of our technological game. However, the technology itself is not the most important thing. What matters the most to us is the way our ingenuity can help provide better service to our customers and make life easier for our employees.
