Freelance Technical Writer

Job Purpose:
We have the opportunity with one of our clients to participate in writing technical manuals and general content writing and therefore we are looking for **experienced Technical Writers**!
We are looking for partners available between part time to full time capacity, i.e. 20 - 40 hours a week, with the ability to work in the CET time zone.
The client is in the manufacturing industry with a specialization in developing solutions for an intelligent building control system.
We are looking for a resource (not necessarily native) with good English skills that will support us in the long-term.
**Responsibilities & Key Tasks**
- Creating software and hardware technical documentation
- Closely collaborating with agile development teams
- Investigate relevant information from electronic devices development and offer management teams
- Transfer technical input into readable, easy understandable topics with the right text and illustration mix for your target audience.
- Manage DITA content in authoring system (PTC Arbortext) for efficient reuse and standardization (training would be provided)
- Manage translation and localization process
- Publish created documents on the web and prepare for the printing office
**Knowledge and Attitudes**
- Ability to structure information and translate complicated concepts into easy-to-follow instructions, education as technical writer is an advantage, e.g. Tekom certificate is nice to have
- Fluency in English, strong writing skills in English Czech or Slovak language is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or comparable education
- Experienced with using technical writing tools (ideally Arbortext or comparable XML editor, Adobe technical communication tools).
- Typography principles knowledge is nice to have
- Experience in working in an agile environment is an advantage
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Motivated to introduce new methods for providing technical documentation
- Desktop Publishing Systems (at least one type)
- Content Management System (nice to have)
- Note: Documents would concern the following technologies (among others)
- (Building) automation
- Sensors and controllers
- Low voltage systems
- Field buses (KNX, LON, Modbus, CAN....)
Product knowledge will be provided by the client to optimize the requirements for technical writing/ general content writing.
