We are looking for engineering managers to help us scale. Our engineers are smart, flexible, and capable of solving difficult challenges. They look to their managers for organizational transparency, career development, mentorship, and honest feedback. They move fast and ship code to production continuously, relying on their leadership to increase productivity by removing obstacles and keeping processes lean. Thus, our engineering managers are people with varying technical backgrounds and interests, involved in the technical details of their team as well as those who provide general technical direction for our teams. Together, we build teams that are inclusive, helpful, and have a strong sense of ownership for the things we create.
**Responsibilities**:
- Manage, mentor and lead a technical team as well as work on personal and technical development of its team members
- Structure and staff the team, aiming to provide growth opportunities to team members and achieve business goals in parallel
- Guide the team to deliver high-quality products and solutions by following the best practices
- Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the teams code, architecture, and processes
- Work with your engineers and product managers to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short-term and long-term goals
- Insure delivery and contribute to defining high-quality UX solutions that uphold all Lyft quality and safety standards with an understanding of feasibility / potential tradeoffs
- Own your teams deliverables and ensure shipment of scalable, highly available products that delight our passengers and drivers
- Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members
- Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other
**Experience**:
- 7+ years technical background and can contribute to planning and design discussions and drive technical decisions
- 2+ years experience managing the team
- Experience leading a team of engineers and guiding them through their career development
- Youre driven to motivate and instill a strong sense of ownership in your team
- You have experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of work
- Experience with big data processing and high-load systems
- Experience with marketplace or e-commerce platforms is a plus
- You enjoy working in a collaborative environment, and youre committed to driving projects to completion creatively
- Ability to communicate in English in various forms, e.g. technical documents, discussions, presentations

- This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule if an established Lyft Location is available to the region — Hybrid Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year._
