Electrical Design Engineer - Mass Spectrometry

**Location/Division Specific Information**:
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Applied Analytical Technology business unit has an immediate opening for a R&D Electrical Design Engineer. If you enjoy working with a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural, and distributed team, this is the job!
**A day in the Life**:
- Design and develop mixed-signal electronics (with emphasis on analog) from concept to production.
- Drive designs to production release and support them through the product life cycle.
- Develop system requirements for electronic modules, evaluate designs for consistency, and perform design work as needed across the entire system.
- Solving problems of complex systems to identify root causes to the component level.
- Participate in scheduling and budgeting of electronics projects.
- Generate technical documents, which include design specifications, guidelines, and documentation as needed.
- Participate and lead design reviews.
- Develop, design, and implement functional test fixtures and processes to ensure products are manufacturable, serviceable, and follow regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues in departments globally.
- Work with contractors, prototype vendors, and fabrication facilities as needed.
- Coordinate quality improvement efforts in both prototype and production system
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of all work carried out to preserve the intellectual property of the company.
**Keys to Success**:
- University degree (Masters preferred) in electrical engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of working experience as an electrical design engineer.
- Certification for electric devices.
- Demonstrates proficiency in design and analytical tools required in the roleand associated industry standards including low noise analog, high impedance, medium power, digital, radio frequency, VHDL, and/or microcontroller design.
- Proficient in schematic capture tools.
- Experience performing hands-on work on electronics including measuring equipment.
- Possesses an understanding of embedded software development.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, CPLDs, FPGAs, SoCs, and MPSoCs.
- Ability to take part in technical discussions and ability to solve technical issues.
- Curious, reliable, independent, and collaborative working style.
- Able to communicate sophisticated technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences
- Able to prioritize complex engineering tasks.
- Coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

- Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
